::30 Days:: Day 4

The husband waving good-bye as he walks out the door, heading to his new job. *!!!* Yeah, you read that right-- new job! Yay!! Someone finally answered one of his hundreds of job applications, interviewed him and hired him. This is his first official day on the job. We missed him while he was gone, but we know it's for a good thing.

Baby took a nap and the girls played outside in the driveway, carving out roads in the gravel for their own toy cars. I took advantage of the moment and made another 5 quarts of applesauce.

Cereal was on the menu for dinner tonight, along with fresh made apple crisp for dessert. Mmmm!

I taped 'Survivor' because Hubby worked 2-9 tonight and we love watching that show. We must be one of the few people that don't have TIVO, and still have to tape shows the old-fashioned way. Do you see the captions on the TV? "Grab your stuff help pd back to camp". It's rare that the captions are done perfectly and there are always misspellings and grammar errors. Usually pre-recorded TV shows and movies are good, but the news shows are terrible. Because they are live, the captioner is typing as they speak and has to keep up with the speaker, so lots of times there are major typos and sometimes completely wrong words because of accented speakers or garbled speech. That's part of the reason why I don't watch the news-- I don't have the patience to deal with bad captions.

Delighted to read that your dh has a new job! Congrats!
What amazing things you are doing with all those apples too. The apple crisp looks tasty.
Our tree has given us some good apples this year - russets - and I plan to make apple crumble tomorrow. Bx

What fantastic news, Jenny. Congrats to your hubby! I know what you mean about the captions. I watch them when I'm at the gym and sometimes they make no sense at all. There must be a better way. Or maybe they need to hire better typists.

Karen-- It is a relief to know that Hubby is working again. His presence and help is missed, but we will be better off financially now.

Lisa-- Yay!! Times are tough and Hubby has not worked in over a year! We have watched survivor from the very beginning!

Barbara-- Thank you!

Lucky you! Your own apples! I'm hoping to plant our own trees in the spring.. At least 4 trees. We have pear and peaches and would be nice to add apples and cherries. A little mini orchard!

Lisa C-- We are definetely feeling blessed now that Hubby is working!

Coffee-- Thank you! Things are looking up around here!

As for the captions, I think better typists would be the answer.. less errors from someone skilled, I would think.

Your prayers have been answered! Bless you for having confidence in your dear hubby and not giving up. We all wish him the best of luck.

Apples are truly amazing and so good for one's health. I love apples baked with sweet potatoes and yams. And our old family favorite is Waldorf Salad! Thanksgiving and Christmas would not be the same without Waldorf Salad!

I love the fact that your children are being brought up the old fashioned way. No "Toys R Us" junk for your kiddies! They will be grateful to you when they grow up (your kids, not Toys R Us). Your blog has so much to offer, so much more than you probably realize! How many kiddies these days know how to make roads in the gravel?? More children need to learn the joys of a cardboard box and their fantasies.

Lantana, who admires you so much!

Hugs, Lantana

Congrats on the job! The apple crisp looks yummy. I'm planning to make some tomorrow. My dad picked a bushel of apples recently so we're using them up.
