Lost and Found

Now that I am not working for the kids' store anymore, I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how we are going to pay the upcoming car insurance bill. Usually, the money I make from selling stuff covers the twice-yearly bill which happens to perfectly coincide with the end of the sale.

I have been talking about opening up an etsy shop, but I haven't had the time to take pictures of the sale items and post them.

We're talking about a yard sale to sell many of those children's items we have, but again, haven't had the time to get everything together.

I tried to sell some bib and burpcloth sets and soaps on here, but apparently among my readers there is no need for them and they went unsold.

Our tax return is due to come in, but most of that is spoken for and there isn't much left over for the car insurance.

What to do, what to do?

I sat down today to write out some checks for a few bills that are due and opened up a bunch of mail that I put aside. You know how it is, get stuff in the mail and first, you sort out the junky stuff and get rid of that before it piles up (and it does pile up quickly!), then put the bills in the office and open anything that looks interesting. We had company a while back and I took everything that piled up on the counter and shoved it into a box and put it in the office.

Today, I needed the mortgage bill and it wasn't on my desk so it must have been swept into that box. I dig through it and found what I thought was the mortgage bill. It wasn't. It was something better! An escrow refund! And it was almost the perfect amount needed to pay both cars' insurance bills!

Hooray for "lost" mail! That'll teach me to open my mail right away!

Oh, I am so glad!

You know, it's not that we all didn't love your bib/burp cloth sets or your soaps...I think folks are just feeling the pinch, with the economy the way it is.

Anyway, I am glad that you found the money to pay the bills...it is so wonderful when things work out like that!

Jen:

i would for sure buy bob the monster from you :P (not THE bob the monster but a similar one) if you had an etsy shop.

my kids would like a homemade doll/monster that I know for sure.

do tell us your etsy store and i'll be in line, if not the first person there.

I'm sorry to but in like this, and to post off topic, but I just googled Deaf Tallahassee after several weeks of looking in the phonebook and calling around about signing clubs or deaf events.

I'm not deaf, I hear just fine. But I am learning ASL from sites such as lifeprint.com, start-american-sign-language.com and aslpro.com, since the colleges in my area dont offer them. I know two little girls ages 7 and 10 who are interested in signlanguage and I've been dabbling for the past several years in and out of the language though I dont really know anything.

I was just wondering if, maybe you know of such a club/group for all ages who want to learn to American sign language?

Again I'm sorry to post off topic and I hope its not rude for hearing people to inquire about Deaf people and their sign language but I'm really interested and couldn't help myself.

Thanks.

Oh, and congrats on your unexpected fund! (Get it? Fund, find? lol. I do enjoy a good pun everynow and then.)

Coming from a homeschooling, single income family, I'm familiar with the way of the frugal. :)

Lisa-- I just love when things fall into place like that! :o)

Barefoot-- oh I don't take offense over the fact that no one bought anything. I know it's kind of a niche market-- bibs and burpcloths: not every one has a baby or knows someone with a baby; and soaps, well that's a personal issue. I appreciate your kind words, though. :o)

Clyde!! Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor! Good grief! What a surprise! :oD

I had a lot of people tell me they like my monsters, and I'm tickled you like them, too. We're a monster-loving family here! Give me some time and I'll whip some up and then you can have your pick. I'll post when I open an etsy shop and you can go and check it out then. How many kids do you have and how old are they? Oh nosy me, you don't have to answer that if you don't want.

Anyway, I'm glad you left a comment and I hope I'll hear from you again soon! :o)

Karen-- ain't that the truth! :o)

Asiya-- Hi! Tallahassee-- you're in Florida? Did you try checking out Florida School for the Deaf? They are located in St. Augustine. I don't know about local colleges where you are, but I know the schools in Jacksonville have ASL courses. There is a large deaf community in the Jax area, so try there if you aren't too far away.

I know it can be hard to find local deaf sources, I'm having a hard time myself with locating the Deaf clubs, but I have to admit, I'm not really trying that hard. The best thing I can think of is to check the Deaf School, they'll have information that may lead you to what you are looking for.

As for the little ones, there are some great sign language videos out there to help them practice. Too bad you aren't closer, I'd be happy to help teach you and the little ones (shucks!).

And-- lol! I like a little pun every now and then, too! :oD
