It's official: I've entered my Rhuberry jam (rhubarb and strawberry) and my Crazyberry (my own blend of black raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and grape) for judging in the County Fair. It's my first time entering anything at the fair, so I hope I make good marks. Would be nice to bring home a ribbon or two. They send off the winning jams and jellies to Ball/Kerr jar company for judging, so I have visions of them contacting me and asking for my Crazyberry recipe. One can dream, right?
Wish me luck! I find out the results at the end of the week.
;o)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'd love to sample your Crazyberry jam...
Whoo Hoo! Way to go sis! I think Ball/Kerr jar are celebrating 75(?) years now. I see new cookbook and extra big jar at Target! WOndered if u have seen them? THey'd be crazy not to want your recipe. :0) xoxo
ReplyDeleteKaren-- Thanks! :o) I'll have to try and figure something out.. I get lots of compliments on my jams. Maybe I can sell some on Etsy??? Hmmmm.... (wheels turning in the brain!)
ReplyDeleteTeena-- They are celebrating 100 years! I saw those big jars, and almost bought some! Lucky me, old owners left some of those big jars behind when they moved out, and I use them for juice in the fridge. I gave Dad and E some jam to give to you.. Enjoy!! :o) xoxo

ReplyDeleteLINDY!!!!!!! Oh oh oh! I MISSSSSSSED you! Eeeeeeeeee! I'll be over to visit! I wondered about you and hoped you were ok. So happy to see you here again!
Aw shucks! You know I got that genie magic! Just a wrinkle of my nose and a nod of my head and *poof!* the jam is made! I wish! I get the kids to help-- that's my "secret".
xoxo
Since I am alone, I no longer feel inclined to make jam but there is a store in town here that sells Pumkin Butter made in Hood
ReplyDeleteRiver, Oregon that I just adore! Perhaps you might like to try that, it is very much like Apple Butter.
Lantana-- Mmmm! I LOVE pumpkin butter! I first tried it some years ago, and I've made it once. I can't use it up fast enough, it doesn't keep long in the fridge. The husband doesn't like pumpkin anything, so it's just me and the kids eating pumpkin pie and pumpkin breads and whatever else I make with pumpkin. I didn't grow any pumpkin this year, still have frozen pumpkin in the freezer from last year. :o)
ReplyDeleteLUCK AND LUCK!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to need my new address to send my jars along? Hmmm?
Lady M-- Thank you!! LOL!! :o)
ReplyDeleteLuck! And, just so you know, if the jam you sent us is any indication you will come home with two ribbons for sure...
ReplyDeleteBarefoot-- Aww, thank you! :o) Going to the fair tonight to find out the results!! Eeee! I can't wait! :o)
ReplyDeleteI used to make some raspberry jams with raspberries I collected from my backyard each summer and it was fun.
ReplyDeleteLisa-- Food taste so much better when you know it's your hard work that picked them and made them!! :o)
