::30 Days:: Day 28

Today was a *brrrrrrr!* windy day! It's Wednesday, so that means Library Day! Off we went to the Library and we bumped into another nice mom and her son who also home school! We ended up talking for nearly 2 hours there, while my kids and her son got along great! We exchanged information and I hope we get together again soon.

After a stop at the food store, Hubby decided it was time to carve a jack-0-lantern! The girls were all excited about that.
The finished pumpkin!

Oldest played around with the cut outs and begged me to take a picture of the face she made.

While Hubby and the girls played with the pumpkin, I made pumpkin bread! Mmmmm! The house smells like a bakery!

  1. A question. I am wondering why you do not bake your pumkin bread "loaf style". I have found that any other way leaves the bread dry.

    What is your secret!!

    Thanks, Lantana

  5. Lantana-- The pumpkin bread is a "quick bread" recipe, so there is no yeast in this. This is similar to a banana bread. I like to turn off the oven the last 5 minutes of cooking, and then leave it in the oven until cooled. I find I get nice moist bread that way. So if the recipe says cook at 350 for 60 minutes, it is actually cooking for 55 minutes. I hope this answers your question.

    Dj-- I am so glad that you all had fun at the party. I read your post and I wish I could have been there to help! We love halloween but for some reason, we didn't bring out all our decorations this year. Too busy with other things, I guess.

    Lisa-- I'll be happy to share it! Stay tuned...

    Lady M-- If you send me your address, I'd mail it, but I'm afraid it would turn to crumbs by the time you got it! So sorry my dear! :o) Next time you are stateside, you should pop over for a visit!
