Homes didnt have the luxury of using up space for a tree for more than a couple of days, so it went up the night before, gifts under it, then it was on the curb (this was near NYC) by the next day, New years at the latest. As time went on and that fantasy went away, its a 6 week afair, but where is the fantasy in todays world.
