I love my pyrex, but I really do have too much and no place to display them, so time to clear some out and hold on to my favorites. I'll keep an eye out for you on ebay! :o)

Sparx-- Aww, thanks hon! I think the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer and there are good things coming our way soon. Always good to hear when someone likes my blog and the topics I pick.

I think you are absolutely right about some of the subjects that SHOULD be taught and qualify for science lessons and mathmatics.. This is why I choose to home school, so I CAN teach my kids those lessons on my own and they can be self-sufficient when they go out on their own.

Barefoot-- Aww, didn't mean to make you cry. *here's a tissue* I had a shameful moment a while back and then I got shaken into perspective and have since started looking on the bright side of things. We all have our weak moments and that's ok, as long as we don't continue to wallow in feeling sorry for ourselves!jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08772053505930801670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6471031006553442541.post-82723915945030577642008-01-15T11:16:00.000-05:002008-01-15T11:16:00.000-05:00Good luck, Jenny. I can do the checkbook (as long as we have some $$ in it) but can't figure out the insurance and retirement things. We've got them, but it's boring to attempt to figure out how they work.

What is your Ebay name? I saw a Mountain Mommie (something like that) posting on the discussion boards and wondered if that's you. If not, you can email me your "handle". I'm not only a seller, but I'm a buyer, too. I can't promise I'll buy anything, but I'll at least browse. I'll go first, mine is natalie*rose*designs, just so you'll know it's me if I make a purchase. I am a little broke at the moment, but I still shop. See, I should have taken that class about luxury and necessity.*******https://www.blogger.com/profile/06051384898789211265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6471031006553442541.post-5066004387058493972008-01-10T18:20:00.000-05:002008-01-10T18:20:00.000-05:00*tearing up a little*That was an inspiring post, d...*tearing up a little*
That was an inspiring post, darlin'. I feel a little ashamed of myself for not being as optimistic as you are, and for allowing myself to just "coast". I think your family is incredibly lucky to have you.barefoot gardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18089017268890241495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6471031006553442541.post-22296780346722707252008-01-10T10:17:00.000-05:002008-01-10T10:17:00.000-05:00I love visiting your blog. I can always count on a positive spin to not so positive circumstances.

I think it is very cool that you received the education you did, and I wish that regular schools emphasized those "life" skills as much as they do the "academics." The reality is that only 10% of high school students will go on to college, and yet, our schools spend four years prepping students for an advanced academic study with requirements like four years of English, three years of math and three years of science. It's too bad that courses like "household budgeting" or "thrifting" or "surviving on a living wage" aren't suitable replacements for algebra and "cooking for four" or "Container Gardening" or "Seed Saving" aren't suitable replacements for science. I think our graduates would be a lot better prepared for a future if they had a better idea of how to handle all of the possibilities. Some kids' parents don't teach those skills. I have great parents, but they didn't teach me those life skills, and I wasn't at all prepared for trying to support my family on minimum wage.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04642417312794814066noreply@blogger.com
